As part of the Buildings team for Garver, this Structural Team Leadwill be responsible for overseeing structural projects from inception, through design, for various projects within the Buildings Business Line.


The responsibilities for this role will include:


  • Building and leading a structural engineering team that supports architectural clients.
  • Providing engineering support for architectural clients.
  • Managing projects and providing design support.


In addition, this role will include coordination with other internal teams across Garver's regional footprint. Travel will be required depending on client and project location.


Abilities and attributes needed for this position:


  • Structural design experience related to buildings.
  • Experience working directly for architectural clients and managing the structural engineering aspects of a building design project.
  • Experience in client relations and project pursuits.
  • Knowledge of building components and systems.
  • Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Be responsible for time management and product quality.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date project accounting on all assigned projects.
  • Develop and follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans.
  • Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as the overall needs of the team.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct structural analysis, design, and detailing.
  • Perform construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site observations, and preparing reports.
  • Utilize BIM design software to produce structural drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Assist project managers and follow QA/QC plans.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Continue education and learning based on project and team needs.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks with engineers-in-training and BIM professionals.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors.


Requirements


  • Minimum of 10 years of professional structural engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain licensure in Texas within 3 months of joining Garver.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.


Preferred Requirements and Skills


  • Master's degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Proficient with Bentley RAM Structural System and RAM Elements.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec.
