JOB SUMMARY

The eDiscovery Project Manager provides consulting, technical execution, and day-to-day project leadership across the full EDRM lifecycle for litigation and regulatory matters. The Project Manager will serve as a hands-on, highly consultative resource to attorneys and clients, advising on best practices for preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production, and ensure all technical and procedural requirements are met. The Project Manager will design and administer databases, load data, perform quality control review of deliverables, ensure negotiated specifications are met, and provide updates regularly to the legal team as they impact the overall budget or timeline for the matter. This role contributes to the development of departmental best practices, training, and process improvements, and collaborates closely with the Director of eDiscovery to align services with Firm and client objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Conducts assessment meetings to understand the nature of the matter, technical requirements, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Consults with legal teams, clients, and other stakeholders, regarding all aspects of eDiscovery.
  • Adheres to documentation requirements using the eDiscovery project management system.
  • Assists with collections, processes and load data, implements data searching/culling techniques, sets up review workflows including the use of active learning or AI, prepares productions and coordinates final disposition of ESI resources.
  • Performs quality control and validation of inbound and outbound data, including review of images, text, metadata, load files, and exception handling to ensure compliance with technical and procedural requirements.
  • Provides end user training and matter-specific guidance to attorneys and staff on RelativityOne, Everchron, and other eDiscovery applications.
  • Assists with department administrative tasks, including file transfer checks and audits.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate time records regarding hours spent working for clients, working for the Firm, and working on administrative tasks.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, and as needed, with vendors and forensic resources to ensure defensible, timely, and cost-effective execution of services.
  • Meets all time entry and time sheet deadlines specified by the Firm and the Accounting Department.
  • Creates documentation consistent with departmental standards.
  • Meets Department billable hour requirement each performance evaluation year.
  • Works as needed hours with flexibility in daily schedule to support our clients, attorneys and paralegals during periods of heavy workload.
  • Promptly notifies supervising lawyers, paralegals, and the Director of eDiscovery of any time out of the office.
  • Attends and digests relevant legal education to continuously improve skills related to the eDiscovery field.
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team or pod.
  • Supports departmental initiatives, including software evaluations, process development, testing, and internal training.
  • Actively monitors communications platforms for timely acknowledgement of legal team requests.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of the litigation lifecycle and discovery as part of the overall legal processes and practice-group procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; and can read and interpret written information.
  • Demonstrates initiative and extreme attention to detail, and strong organizational and time management abilities with a proven record of meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced technical proficiency using Relativity.
  • Expert understanding of load files as well as data manipulation techniques as part of working with industry standard applications.
  • Ability to follow and interpret written and oral instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Relativity certifications preferred.

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience eDiscovery or Litigation Support experience.
  • AmLaw 100 firm experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Relativity, Everchron, ReadySuite, UltraEdit (or equivalent text editor), Harvey, Page Vault, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
  • Programming skills preferred.

The annualized good faith base salary range for this position in the following location(s):

  • Chicago: is a minimum of $121,000 to a maximum of $181,000 per year.

The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, applicable certifications, and other relevant professional licenses held, and the candidate's overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
