Overview
The Business Development Manager manages the development of field sales and business development programs and is responsible for securing new customers and ensuring subordinate sales staff are competent and well trained.

Responsibilities



  • Manage and coordinate sales staff and activities to secure new customers and maintain current customer relationships.
  • Train sales staff on product offerings, sales techniques, and industry practices and trends, providing direct training or identifying and securing effective resources.
  • Facilitate sales discussions and meetings, set agenda, coordinate meetings and manage defined projects.
  • Ensure company customer growth each year through development, implementation and management of sales programs.
  • Make sales calls and manage the activity of the staff to secure new customers.
  • Work directly with the BPLP District Managers to develop sales goals, product margins and strategies.
  • Regularly communicate with all retail locations to keep them current with product and programs.
  • Handles bid process for large statewide accounts.
  • Develop and maintain current understanding of energy industry trends and technical documents related to products sold.
  • Establish individual and team goals for department, as well as establish personal goals with senior leader. Ensure goals are attainable and trackable.
  • Monitor all aspects of employee commission program in accordance with established policy.
  • Coordinate MFA Oil presence at appropriate trade shows and events.
  • Manage assigned employees, including hiring, evaluating performance, making wage adjustments, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Plan and direct the work of assigned employees, including providing clear direction; training, developing and motivating employees; enforcing company policies and safety requirements; monitoring productivity; and resolving conflict in a timely manner.
  • Prepare projections for the budget process and control expense as it pertains to the department.
  • All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, advertising, or related field, or an associate's degree with three years of applicable experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 years of applicable experience in a marketing or advertising role.
  • Minimum of three years of management experience.
  • Exceptional sales abilities with a proven record of successes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent writing skills including ability to convey material concisely, using proper grammar.
  • Excellent verbal skills, to effectively present to individuals, as well as small and large groups.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to set priorities and goals and develop plans for achieving them.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Some statewide and regional travel with overnights.
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Must meet Company requirements, including successful background and MVR check, and drug test.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States


Preferred Skills



  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Experience in communicating effectively on a departmental and cross-departmental basis.
  • Ability to work and keep on schedule with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of time management skills
  • Ability to work well with others and at a fast pace.
