* Develop scalable data warehouse and data lake solutions on Azure Synapse to support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives.

* Create and maintain data models optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.

* Collaborate with laboratory information systems (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), and other healthcare data sources to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.

* Implement data quality, validation, and auditing processes to ensure integrity across all data assets.

Database Administration

* Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premise and cloud environments.

* Design and tune indexes, stored procedures, and queries for optimal performance.

* Manage database security, roles, and access controls to maintain compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational standards.

* Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for mission-critical healthcare systems.

* Monitor database performance and availability using tools like Azure Monitor, SQL Profiler, and Log Analytics.

Collaboration & Strategy

* Partner with data scientists, analysts, clinicians, and application developers to support reporting and analytics use cases.

* Define and enforce data architecture standards and documentation within the organization.

* Stay up to date with Microsoft's evolving data ecosystem, recommending tools and practices that enhance scalability, performance, and compliance.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).

* 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory environment.

* Strong proficiency in T-SQL, SSIS, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

* Proven experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Power BI.

* In-depth understanding of data modeling, ETL development, and data warehouse design within Microsoft ecosystems.

* Solid grasp of data security, encryption, and compliance standards in healthcare (HIPAA, PHI, HL7, FHIR).

* Experience with CI/CD for data solutions using tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

* Experience integrating data from LIS, EHR, or LIMS platforms.

* Familiarity with Python or .NET for data automation and custom integrations.

* Knowledge of Power BI administration and data governance frameworks (Purview, Collibra, etc.).

* Exposure to machine learning pipelines in Azure ML or Databricks environments.
