Summary:This remote PRN pharmacist position supports the Medication Assistance Program (MAP) Pharmacy team and works closely with appeals nurses, clinic staff, and providers. The position reports directly to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager for MAP Pharmacy Benefit Services. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include drafting appeal letters for prior authorization denials, submitting and following up on appeals with payers, and serving as a clinical resource for the team and its partners. Additional responsibilities may include care coordination, appeals data review and performance metrics, and education.
- 1Assess patient medication access needs and compile appeal letters based on the clinical documentation in the electronic health record using supporting data citations. Submit appeal letters and supporting documentation to payors and follow-up on status updates. Acts as a liaison between the patient, family and health care team to communicate patient care needs related to insurance requirements and medication assistance.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide information and resources that support patient care.
- Collect data related to specialized patient populations and ensure accurate entry into databases and registries for benchmarking and reporting.
- Promote ongoing professional development by attending presentations, conferences, and reviewing current literature and research. Serve as a role model for professional pharmacy practice through the demonstration of professional behaviors.
- Identify and participate in process improvement opportunities, including data-driven assessments, workflow optimization, and research initiatives

Other information: Education Requirements: * PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree Licensure/Certification Requirements: * Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment. Recent graduates of ACPE-accredited colleges/schools of pharmacy may fill this role while pending initial pharmacist licensure, but are subject to limitations mandated by the NC Board of Pharmacy and must obtain licensure within 6 months of orientation or sooner if required for operations.
