You are:

A seasoned Reinsurance Domain Leader with years of comprehensive experience spanning both re/insurance operations and IT implementations, which will require a combination of deep actuarial domain expertise and hands-on technology delivery experience. You will lead our reinsurance consulting practice, driving large-scale transformation programs for global reinsurance clients while bridging the critical gap between business requirements and technical execution.

The Opportunity:



  • Lead enterprise-wide transformation engagements with major reinsurance companies, spanning actuarial modernization, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation initiatives in other areas
  • Serve as a trusted C-suite advisor, translating complex re/insurance challenges into executable technology strategies
  • Build and maintain executive relationships with CIOs, Chief Actuaries, and CFOs at leading reinsurance organizations
  • Drive business development efforts and identify strategic opportunities within the reinsurance technology space
  • Provide expert guidance on end-to-end reinsurance business processes from treaty structuring through financial settlement
  • Lead the design and implementation of transformation programs which involve actuarial systems like Prophet, AXIS and MoSes
  • Guide cloud migration strategies, data modernization initiatives, and AI/ML applications in actuarial and underwriting processes
  • Oversee large-scale IT implementation programs including system selections, vendor management, and delivery assurance
  • Bridge business and technology teams, ensuring actuarial requirements are properly translated into technical specifications
  • Provide architecture guidance on integration strategies for complex reinsurance technology ecosystems
  • Lead vendor evaluation and selection processes for actuarial platforms, administration systems, and data management solutions
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of reinsurance domain experts and solution architects
  • Develop intellectual capital including frameworks, accelerators, and thought leadership content



You Will Need:



  • At least 20 years of progressive experience in the life and health reinsurance industry with demonstrated expertise in both business operations and IT implementations
  • A deep understanding on internal capital model implementations, regulatory reporting solutions (Solvency II, IFRS 17, LDTI), and risk management platforms
  • At least 10 years working directly on IT initiatives including system implementations, technology transformations, or solution architecture
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale ($5M+) technology programs in reinsurance or insurance environments
  • Experience working with or for major global reinsurers (Munich Re, Swiss Re, RGA, Hannover Re, SCOR, Gen Re, etc.)
  • Reinsurance Domain Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of actuarial processes including pricing, reserving, capital modelling, assumption setting, and experience studies
  • Expert understanding of reinsurance products across individual life, group life, health, critical illness, and disability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reinsurance administration including treaty management, bordereaux processing, seriatim data exchange, and financial settlement
  • Strong grasp of internal capital models (ICM), economic capital frameworks, ORSA processes, and enterprise risk management
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements: Solvency II, IFRS 17, LDTI, PBR, US statutory reporting
  • Actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, CERA, or international equivalents) would be an added advantage, but not mandatory
  • Technology & Implementation Experience
  • Hands-on experience implementing or upgrading actuarial modelling platforms (Prophet, AXIS, MoSes, or similar)
  • Experience with reinsurance administration systems, policy administration platforms, and claims systems
  • Knowledge of modern technology architectures including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data lakes, and API-based integration
  • Understanding of AI/ML applications in actuarial work, automated underwriting, and predictive analytics
  • Experience with data management, data governance, and analytics platforms in reinsurance contexts
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern SDLC approaches


Nice to have:



  • Prior consulting experience strongly preferred; Big 4 or tier-1 consulting firm experience
  • Published thought leadership, conference speaking, or active involvement in actuarial/reinsurance industry associations
  • Experience with Solvency II technical provisions calculations, SCR modelling, or IFRS 17 CSM automation



Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. As required by local law, UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York City, or Washington as set forth below.

Role Location: Remote (Ideally located in St. Louis, MO)

Compensation Range: $150,000 to $225,000

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
