Position Responsibilities

Job Summary

As a Data Engineer at Deltek, you will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and models to support analytical and operational needs. You will work with a variety of data sources, leveraging Python and SQL to ensure data is efficiently extracted, transformed, and loaded into data warehouses and lakes. Your expertise will help deliver clean, reliable datasets to data scientists and analysts, driving data-driven decision making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data pipelines using Python and SQL to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into data warehouses and lakes.

  • Write efficient SQL queries for data transformation, aggregation, and reporting; optimize queries for performance.

  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure accuracy and consistency of data pipelines.

  • Integrate data from enterprise applications, third-party services, and internal systems using APIs and databases.

  • Create and maintain data models (dimensional models, normalized schemas) for analytical and operational use cases.

  • Build automated workflows using orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar) to schedule and manage data pipelines.

  • Document data processes including data dictionaries, pipeline documentation, and data lineage information.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver clean, reliable datasets.

  • Troubleshoot data issues including debugging pipeline failures, investigating data quality problems, and resolving performance bottlenecks.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of data engineering experience building production data pipelines.

  • Strong Python proficiency; experience with pandas, requests, and data manipulation libraries.

  • Advanced SQL skills including joins, window functions, CTEs, and query optimization.

  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines; familiarity with ETL best practices.

  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or OCI; experience with cloud storage (S3, Azure Blob) and compute services.

  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Luigi, or similar workflow management systems.

  • Understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server & Oracle) and basic NoSQL concepts.

  • Experience with Git workflows, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Spark, Kafka, or other big data technologies.

  • Experience with data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.

  • Familiarity with DBT for data transformations.

Compensation Information

The U.S. salary range for this position is $46500.00 - $81250.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
