Position Summary
This position will be responsible for managing research at the Teakettle Experimental Forest, CA. This includes both terrestrial and aquatic data collection. The position will hire, train, and oversee the field crew. The Sr. Research Scientist 2 will be responsible for collection, QA/QC, data management, and data analysis of forest inventory data. Also, the candidate will be responsible for collection, QA/QC, data management, lab analysis and data analysis of water data. There will be other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Biology
  • Prior experience conducting forest inventory work, training and leading field technicians
  • Prior experience conducting data QA/QC and managing data
  • Prior experience with data analysis in R and publishing in the peer-reviewed literature
  • Prior experience surveying forest fuels
  • Prior experience collecting water samples
  • Prior experience working at a remote field site
