Boston Children's Hospital Health Technology Department (HTM) is seeking a motivated and talented HTM Technician Student Co-op Intern to join our team. Health Technology Management is the department at Boston Children's Hospital that manages all the medical devices throughout the entire enterprise. There are nearly 30,000 devices actively in use ranging from thermometers to CT scanners. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a biomedical, electrical, mechanical engineering or related program who are eager to gain hands-on experience with working with biomedical devices in a clinical environment. The Co-op intern will assist our HTM department in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and patient safety and regulatory compliance. The intern will also gain experience with project management, conducting technology assessments, and much more.
Interns will earn $18.00-$22.00/hour.

What You'll Do:

  • Full-time onsite position at 300 Longwood Ave, Boston MA, not eligible for remote work. Hours are flexible.
  • Assist with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of various medical devices and equipment.
  • Support the HTM team in troubleshooting equipment issues and performing minor repairs.
  • Participate in routine preventative maintenance procedures and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities in accordance with hospital protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure equipment availability for clinical personnel.
  • Help with inventory management and organization of biomedical equipment.
  • Aid in the collection and analysis of equipment performance data for process improvement.
  • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing projects.

Who You Are:
  • Currently enrolled in a Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related program at the undergraduate level
  • Basic understanding of medical equipment and safety standards
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
