Unarmed Security Officer

Objective

This position is responsible for protecting, safeguarding, and securing assets, personnel, customers, and visitors.

Essential Functions

Be able to read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to communicate in person properly and clearly or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the public. The ability to maintain a professional, tactful, and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose in the English language precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports, as necessary.

Job Duties

• Controlling access to the building and responding to emergencies
• Customer service: Greeting visitors, providing information, and handling packages
• Record keeping: Writing reports of daily activities, incidents, and emergencies
• Communication: The ability to handle large groups and provide directives, Aid customers, employees, and visitors following the building procedures.
• Performs security patrols.
• Enforces access control procedures.
• Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
• Investigates and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations.
• Security company personnel must respect the equipment provided and ensure the cleanliness of the premises.
• The security guard must be able to fill out handwritten logs, scan identity documents, and file them if needed.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Proficient in English
• At least 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Unarmed DCJS preferred
• Must be fully capable of performing duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion and must be fully capable of self-defense, tactical exercises, and weaponless defense.
• Shall be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) to draft reports and or logs.

Additional Qualifications:

The applicant is required to submit to a pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.

The applicant must be able to pass an NLIC / State / Local Background check and Credit check (as applicable).
