Job Family Description

Legal roles provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, and privileges of the organization. They examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Discipline Description

Ethics personnel develop, implement, and promote awareness of the organization's business ethics policies. They monitor the organization's standards of conduct and ethical relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, employees, and the communities in which business is conducted, investigate allegations of unethical activity, and develops safeguards to eliminate future breaches of the organization's ethics policies.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

* 8-10 years experience in international trade compliance or equivalent appropriate experience sufficient in scope to assure effective understanding and application of such programs
* Knowledge of U.S. export licensing regulations including Export Administration Regulation (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC)
* Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to thoroughly analyze complex information and technical specifications
* Ability to develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant export/import control laws and regulations
* Ability to collaborate across departments, with the executive team, and the NNSA/DOE customer to grow relationships as required to ensure adequate export control program strategy and implementation
* Strong managerial skills to facilitate organization and growth of export compliance team including through development and execution of training specific to needed export roles/requirements of various internal departments (e.g., shipping, procurement, research and development) including at least 4 years of leadership experience
* Working knowledge of DOE and/or NNSA programs
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and engage effectively with external government officials and company vendors

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least fifteen years of experience (YOE), OR
Master's degree in relevant field plus at least twelve years of experience (YOE), OR
Doctoral degree in relevant field plus at least eight years of experience (YOE)
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
