Position Summary: The UIC ECE Department seeks tenure-track faculty committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and developing a strong, externally funded research program. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to inspire students, contribute to scholarly productivity, and engage with current research trends in their field. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications for multiple tenured and tenure-track faculty positions. The faculty positions start on August 16, 2026, or on a mutually agreed date thereafter. We seek dynamic scholars who will establish and sustain outstanding research programs and demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the core ECE curriculum as well as in the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to teaching and research, successful candidates will contribute to departmental, college, and professional service activities. Priority areas include: 1. Ultra-wide-bandgap and wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, ICs, packages, and modules. 2. Photoconductive and optical semiconductor devices, silicon photonics, photonics integrated circuits, co-packaged optics. 3. New transistors (e.g., complementary field-effect transistors and gate-all-around transistors). 4. 3D IC heterogeneous integration and packaging. 5. Analog/digital/mixed-signal/radio-frequency integrated circuits. 6. Digital twins and smart manufacturing. 7. Experimental condensed matter physics for semiconductor devices and spintronics. However, exceptional candidates in all areas of ECE will also be considered. Candidates working on multidisciplinary research are especially encouraged to apply.
