Overview

The Vice President, Operations provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a broad portfolio of clinical ancillary and non-clinical support services across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered services that support clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and the overall patient and employee experience. The position serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and partners closely with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to advance organizational goals.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

1.1 Develop and execute strategic plans for ancillary and support services that align with organizational priorities, financial objectives, and quality goals
1.2 Serve as an executive partner to clinical and administrative leaders to integrate support services with patient care delivery
1.3 Identify opportunities for service optimization, cost containment, and performance improvement while maintaining quality and safety standards.

1.4. Lead and execute high-priority. cross-functional initiatives on behalf of the President to drive organizational strategy and operational performance. Own execution of new system implementations, performance improvement initiatives. and operational redesign, with clear accountability for results. Act as an extension of the President by aligning teams, removing barriers, enforcing accountability, and delivering concise executive analyses and recommendations to support timely decision-making.

2. Operational Oversight

2.1 Provide executive oversight for a diverse portfolio that may include, but is not limited to:

    • Environmental Services
    • Food & Nutrition Services
    • Rehabilitation Services
    • Respiratory, Cardiology, Pulmonary, and Sleep Services
    • Occupational Health
    • Patient Transport
    • Wound Care
    • Spiritual Care
    • Additional ancillary and support functions as assigned

2.2 Ensure operational excellence, consistent service standards, and effective coordination across all areas of responsibility.

2.3 Monitor key performance indicators related to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, workforce engagement, and financial performance.

3. Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance

3.1 Ensure all assigned departments comply with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements
3.2 Partner with Quality, Safety, Infection Prevention, and Accreditation leaders to mitigate risk and promote a culture of safety.

3.3 Support continuous readiness for regulatory surveys and inspections.

4. Financial Stewardship

4.1 Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets
4.2 Ensure responsible resource utilization, productivity management, and achievement of financial targets
4.3 Evaluate and prioritize capital investments related to ancillary and support services

5. People Leadership

5.1 Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for directors, managers, and department leaders.
5.2 Promote workforce engagement, accountability, and professional development
5.3 Support succession planning and leadership development within assigned areas.

6. Patient and Family Experience

6.1 Champion a patient- and family-centered approach across all ancillary and support services.
6.2 Partner with Patient Relations, Nursing, and Medical Staff leadership to enhance the overall patient experience.

7. Collaboration and Communication

7.1 Serve as a visible and accessible executive leader across the organization.
7.2 Collaborate with Medical Staff, Nursing, and Administrative leaders to resolve operational issues and support system-wide initiatives.
7.3 Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders , including governing bodies, regulatory agencies, and community partners as appropriate.


Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with significant responsibility for ancillary and/or support services.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-department operations within an acute care or integrated health system environment.
  • Proven record of financial management, quality improvement, and team leadership at a senior level.
