Senior Manager - Accounting, Governance & Controls

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000 base salary + equity
Location: New York, NY (In-office 4-5 days per week)

About the Role

A high-growth technology organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounting, Governance & Controls to strengthen its audit, controls, and compliance posture as its product suite and client base continue to scale.

This is a critical leadership role for an audit and controls expert who can design and embed robust control frameworks while partnering closely with product, engineering, and client-facing teams. The role is well-suited for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building structure from evolving requirements, and can translate audit expectations into practical, scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities Governance, Controls & Risk Management
  • Design, implement, and maintain accounting and operational control frameworks, including approvals, reconciliations, segregation of duties, and audit trails

  • Embed control considerations directly into system and product workflows to support scalability and audit readiness

SOC 1 Readiness & Audit Leadership
  • Lead SOC 1 readiness efforts, including documentation, testing, evidence collection, and remediation

  • Coordinate closely with external auditors throughout the audit lifecycle

  • Serve as the primary liaison for enterprise client auditors and third-party assurance providers

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Translate customer and auditor control requirements into actionable internal processes and system enhancements

  • Partner with accounting, product, engineering, and operations teams to align governance requirements with business execution

Continuous Improvement
  • Evolve governance and controls as the business, product offerings, and customer expectations mature

  • Identify gaps, recommend enhancements, and drive adoption of best practices in a fast-moving environment

Skills & Experience
  • CPA required

  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting, internal audit, SOX, or governance and controls roles

  • Big 4 or top-tier public accounting firm background strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience leading SOC 1 readiness or similar assurance initiatives

  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit methodology, and risk management frameworks

  • Ability to interpret audit and client requirements and convert them into scalable processes and system features

  • Comfortable operating in a growth-stage, evolving environment with high levels of ambiguity

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with auditors, clients, and senior stakeholders
