SUMMARY

The Facilities Coordinator will work with the Maintenance Coordinators, Maintenance Planners, Sr. Maintenance Craft Personnel and Production personnel to execute assigned tasks. They will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the facility by coordinating job timelines, PM schedules, inspections, upgrades, repairs to the facility and plant assets. They will communicate with outside vendors and coordinate between internal customers and contractors. The position will schedule, obtaining quotes, entering requisitions, and distribute work orders to appropriate team members, ensuring safety guidelines are being met as well as observing cost efficiency throughout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to housekeeping and cross training. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.

  • Adjust priorities to business needs.
  • Organize and prioritize work tasks to meet manufacturing goals.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, and other equipment safely to access machinery located at various heights.
  • Identify and report opportunities for improvement throughout the mill.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Collaborate with contractors to address the needs of the mill, in the most timely, efficient and safest manner.
  • Ensure all contractor activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Observe safety rules and regulations and motivate others to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for coordinating safety and housekeeping of jobsites and shop areas.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by management.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 4-6 years' experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in steel, metal, or manufacturing industries.
  • Practical understanding of engineering principles, standards, methods and practices.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills as new technology and methods are introduced, including attending training sessions.
  • Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work under frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude - ability to understand and work from schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout and other OSHA safety standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • May lead and train others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May be exposed to hot, cold, and dusty environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Must be able to meet safety requirements including ANSI fall protection expectations
