Description

We're looking for a skilled and safety-focused GSE Mechanic II to help keep our Ground Support Equipment operating at peak performance. In this hands-on role, you'll inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul both powered and non-powered GSE-playing a critical role in reliable airport operations.

Beyond turning wrenches, you'll be a trusted technical resource, mentoring less experienced mechanics and stepping into a leadership role when the Supervisor is unavailable. What You'll Do


  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul a wide range of ground support equipment



  • Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, and battery-operated equipment



  • Perform light and heavy-duty tire and wheel changes



  • Accurately complete maintenance and repair documentation in compliance with all carrier, airport, municipal, state, and federal requirements



  • Respond to emergency service calls and incidents involving GSE



  • Serve as a liaison between ABX and contractors for equipment maintenance, modification, and operations



  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mechanics



  • Oversee maintenance work in the absence of a Supervisor



  • Maintain strong communication with all levels of the organization



  • Support facility or property equipment maintenance as directed by management



  • Work independently while consistently practicing safety-conscious behaviors




What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications




  • High school diploma or G.E.D.



  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) on technical matters



  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams



  • Valid Driver's License



  • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable industrial and/or commercial maintenance experience



  • Working knowledge of:




    • Arc/MIG and acetylene welding



    • Gas and diesel engine repair



    • Automatic and manual transmissions and drivetrains



    • Hydraulic systems and battery-operated equipment







  • Basic computer skills



  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision



  • Must supply a complete set of mechanic's tools (company provides specialized tools)



  • Physical ability to:




    • Stoop, bend, and work in confined spaces



    • Work at heights



    • Frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.






Preferred Qualifications




  • Two (2) years of formal technical training in industrial or commercial automotive repair



  • CDL Class A license



  • Prior military AGE/GSE experience
