Job Summary:

The Failure Analysis Engineering Intern will be using professional concepts and applying policies and procedures to learn how to troubleshoot device failure and perform basic root cause analysis. They will be responsible for performing failure analysis of customer returned products with the intent of root cause isolation of full device system issues or sensor and cable issues down to the circuit board, component, or process level. They will work closely with experienced Failure Analysis Engineers to understand the root cause of product failures and learn the principles of Root Cause Analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Works on problems of limited scope, following standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data with close guidance by Failure Analysis Engineers.
2. Perform root cause analysis using a wide range of techniques and engineering principles to tackle challenging issues with Masimo products, including devices, cables, and sensors.
3. Analyze and troubleshoot electronic circuits at system, module, and component level using circuit schematics and layouts.
4. Participate in collaborations with cross-functional teams with the goal of recreating failure modes that are intermittent or hard to replicate.
5. Document and report any significant findings with photographs or samples to appropriate QA and Operations personnel.
6. Identify root cause of customer returned product failures using engineering principles and electrical test equipment.
7. Promptly report all field failures and Customer complaints per the Masimo Quality System.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 0-1 years of experience.
2. Working knowledge of electrical testing and electrical testing equipment, such as microscopes, digital cameras, calipers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other equipment as needed for testing and troubleshooting.
3. Working knowledge of electrical engineering or related device level, circuit board level, and component level troubleshooting for root cause failure analysis investigations of customer returned product.

Education:

Pursuing Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, is required. A combination of equivalent education and related experience will be considered in lieu of pursuing a Bachelor's degree.

Location:

• This position will report on-site in Irvine, CA. 32 hours a week (Monday-Thursday)

Compensation:

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $22-$25 per hour.
