That's why we're looking for a Legal Personnel and Attorney Recruiting Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative support to the firm's legal personnel and recruiting functions.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...

Legal Personnel



  • Coordinating the background check process for the firm's incoming lawyers and legal professionals.
  • Creating and distributing notifications for arrivals, departures, leaves of absence, compensation or schedule changes, and other changes of status for legal personnel.
  • Maintaining and tracking required information in the personnel database, employee files, and other records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality of same; Compiling data and assisting in responding to external surveys and other firmwide data requests.
  • Processing reimbursements and vendor invoices for payment; Coordinating benevolence gifts and memorial donations.
  • Responding to attorney inquiries and directing them to appropriate firm resources.


Attorney Recruiting



  • Assisting with administrative aspects of lateral associate, counsel, and partner hiring.
  • Assisting with law student recruiting efforts, including outreach, on-campus interview programs, callback interviews, and the offer process.
  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of the Summer Associate Program including social events and attorney lunches.
  • Posting job openings on the firm website, LinkedIn, and other relevant job boards; Identifying and sourcing candidates for multiple openings.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date viRecruit files on each applicant; Processing resumes, correspondence, and feedback for all candidate stages.
  • Soliciting and collecting mid- and end-of-summer evaluations and assisting in preparing review materials; Providing back-up support for work assignment tracking and evaluation processes.
  • Processing check requests, reimbursement requests, and sponsorship forms for recruiting events and outreach activities.


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Zoom; Familiarity with viRecruit preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to compose, edit, and proofread routine business correspondence.
  • Responsiveness and attention to detail; Able to work effectively under deadlines, and able to prioritize different work streams and competing tasks.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service; acting as an ambassador to internal external clients, and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of routine responsibilities.


Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC: $60,000 - $65,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and overtime, if eligible. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.
