Title: MCA Coordinator - EMS $62,233 - $90,958 / Posted Thru:1/18/2026 Location: Hybrid - Must work and live in the state of Michigan. Purpose: The EMS MCA Coordinator serves as a resource for the Medical Control Authorities throughout the State of Michigan. This position is responsible for oversight and tracking of the MCA protocol process, and providing subject matter expertise to MCAs regarding statutory compliance, administrative rule interpretation, and system and clinical operations. The EMS MCA Coordinator will work collaboratively with Division of EMS and Systems of Care (DESoC) leadership and compliance staff to address MCA complaints and compliance activities, and with the education staff to develop and provide education opportunities for stakeholders. The EMS MCA Coordinator will serve as the subject matter expert supporting the Emergency Medical Services Coordination (EMSCC) Education Subcommittee and Quality Assurance Task Force, and may also serve on additional committees or special projects for the Bureau of Emergency Preparedness, EMS, and Systems of Care. The EMS MCA Coordinator position requires the ability to interpret and understand the Public Health Code, Administrative Rules, and policies and procedures of the DESoC. This position requires use of independent judgement in organizing and performing daily work. This position will also serve as a member of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Public Health Emergency Response Team in the Community Health Emergency Coordination Center (CHECC) as needed. Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in any major with preference given to a degree in the health sciences. Maintenance of Michigan EMS Paramedic and Instructor/Coordinator licensure throughout employment. Experience: A minimum of five years of employment in an EMS agency setting as a licensed paramedic. Experience in a medical control authority setting is preferred but not required. A minimum of three years of licensure as an EMS Instructor/Coordinator. Important Skills and Characteristics:
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Work assignments are performed within an office environment, with some tasks on nights and weekends possible. Dependable transportation and a valid vehicle operator's license are required. Physical requirements consistent with a standard office environment. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility. IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS.Completion of tasks assigned to this position are time-specific and integral to public health and safety. The person in this position will work cooperatively with MDHHS Division of EMS and Systems of Care staff, BEPESoC staff, and EMS and Systems of Care community stakeholders.
