Essential Functions:



  • Responsible for ensuring all laboratory equipment meets state certification and internal calibration requirements.
  • Must exhibit working knowledge of internal and regulatory audits and inspection.
  • Monitoring of the sampling and testing programs
  • Assist Quality and Plant Management in ensuring compliance and auditing of GMP's, SOP's, housekeeping, sanitation standards, weight control, and product handling.
  • Coordinate the PMs on all lab equipment to maintain vendor specifications.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of food processing and packaging to troubleshoot issues in identifying contamination hazards and quality issues.
  • Participates in HP Hood Winchester Quality Management Systems.
  • Audit CIP chemical concentrations and ensures compliance to company specifications.
  • Must be able to prepare media and other lab controls. These would include but are not limited to pour plates, buffer water, etc.
  • Operate autoclave to sterilize plates and equipment as needed while ensuring sterility test are accurate.
  • Participate in environmental testing in and around plant that includes swabbing, air plating, water sampling, etc.
  • Oversee the verification that plant equipment meets sanitation requirements prior to start up.
  • Participation in team-oriented processes in order to ascertain improvements within the lab and plant.
  • Responsible for the training of Quality technicians and ensuring that they comply with all regulatory specifications for the testing they are performing.
  • Responsible for lab inventory control, purchase order requests and employee time confirmation.
  • Complete all performance reviews, coaching, attendance and disciplinary action for lab employees.
  • Responsible for daily review of all testing information and follow up of any non-conformances.
  • Various tasks involving the responsibility of the food safety and quality of company products.


Education & Experience:



  • BS/BA in related science
  • of 2yrs experience in food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry, dairy standards and CIP sanitation.
  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc)
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Communication skills are a must.
  • Multi-tasked Individual.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Standing: Long periods (a minimum of 8+ hours)
  • Sitting: Occasionally for short periods
  • Walking: Long periods
  • Bending: Frequently
  • Lifting: Light (10+ lbs) frequently, lifting 50 occasionally
  • Carrying: Light (10-15 lbs) frequently

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is
$31.95 $34.92 USD
