This position is eligible for Eskaton's health benefits package the first of the month following 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits program after 90 days of employment.

Position Summary:
This in-person role supports Eskaton's Chief Legal Officer and other members of the leadership team by combining corporate paralegal responsibilities with executive team administrative functions. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to Eskaton's mission of enhancing the lives of older adults while gaining experience in high-level corporate legal operations. This role is critical to ensuring Eskaton's legal and administrative operations run smoothly, supporting compliance, governance, and executive effectiveness. The successful candidate will manage legal and administrative tasks, including contracting, corporate governance, legal claims, compliance matters, insurance renewals and claims, calendar and meeting coordination, document preparation, and cross-functional administrative support.

The starting salary for this in-person position ranges from $95,000 to $120,000 annually. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.

Position Responsibilities include:

Paralegal Functions (50-75%)



  • Oversee the corporate contracting process and database, including preparation, review, negotiation, editing, execution, and amendment of contracts, with attorney involvement as appropriate.
  • Support corporate transactions through due diligence coordination, document preparation, closing logistics, and post-closing administration.
  • Assist the CLO in managing legal matters handled internally and by outside counsel, including case tracking, file management, and discovery coordination.
  • Maintain Eskaton's entity records, including formation documents, organizational changes, annual reports, and statutory filings.
  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas and records requests in compliance with privacy and regulatory standards.


Executive Assistant Functions (25-50%)



  • Provide direct administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer, including calendar management, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, expense reporting, and other tasks as needed. May include cross-over support for other members of leadership team.
  • Prepare correspondence, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support insurance renewals and claims, including documentation and coordination with brokers and carriers.
  • May include confidential support for board of directors and board committees (e.g. preparing board packets or minutes and other support for board meetings).
  • Cross-train with other executive assistant/administrative team members to ensure continuity of support across departments.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's (preferred) or relevant 2-year college degree.
  • Qualified to practice as a paralegal in the State of California (certificate preferred)
  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, with a preference for transactional and in-house corporate experience.
  • Expertise in contract lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to undertake, manage, and complete multiple projects.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Outstanding organization, time-management, and oral/written communication skills.
  • High level of comfort with technology, including the ability to learn and support functional use of software systems supported by the role (particularly contract lifecycle management system).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in healthcare, senior living, and/or nonprofit sectors.
  • Extensive experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) and CLM software.
  • Knowledge of California corporate and healthcare law.
  • Prior experience supporting C-suite executives.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience; thorough familiarity with full litigation process.


The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test and health screen. All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.
