Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the primary responsibilities of the data system analyst (bilingual in an AANHPI language is required) involve the application of professional concepts, methodologies, and procedures to address routine data and information management challenges. Works on problems of limited scope to provide data / information management support. The incumbent works on problems of limited scope to provide data / information management support and follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data / information from which answers can be readily obtained.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $136,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The mission of the department of Community Health Systems (CHS) is to promote and sustain health in the community and workplace, with particular emphasis on culturally diverse and high-risk populations. We are committed to improving health and health care for those served by community-based health care systems through educating culturally competent nurses, conducting research, and providing services in the community that address the health issues of those underserved by the traditional institution-based health care system. CHS faculty research focuses on vulnerable populations and their communities as well as on health care systems and the workforce. Research conducted by CHS faculty aims to advance knowledge and theory through research; design and evaluate the organization, financing, and delivery of health care; and generate and test innovative professional educational models. The department partners with community-based organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area in order to meet the need of reducing health disparities both locally and globally.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information and Computer Science, Statistics, or Data Science, or in related field and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Fluent or Proficient in an Asian, Hawaiian or Pacific Islander language in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Understanding of data management operations and database administration, including data modeling, data definition, data conversion and management of content or unstructured information.
  • Knowledge of relevant rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated service orientation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems.
  • Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
