Fortrea is seeking an exceptional Executive Director of Business Development to join our senior executive team and lead our global sales strategy, client relationships, and talent development. What You'll Do
  • Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Sales and Client Services to define client selection strategy and develop robust account plans.
  • Hire and nurture diverse talent while assigning accounts, territories, and forecasting global sales goals.
  • Deliver on global order goals and drive new market opportunities through strategic relationship-building.
  • Conduct quarterly account plan reviews with Business Development Representatives and foster joint opportunities with other Fortrea business units.
  • Facilitate complex margin and pricing negotiations, both internally and externally.
  • Monitor and control team operating expenses, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Advise and troubleshoot for Business Development Representatives, resolving issues and facilitating strong internal communication.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and utilize SFDC to manage pipeline, forecast, and analyze key sales metrics.
  • Lead annual sales meeting planning and deliver global sales updates to senior management.
  • Train and onboard new Sales team members, while developing annual BU sales goals and plans with executive leadership.
  • Support the development of global MSAs and preferred provider agreements.
  • Formulate strategic direction for the BU alongside the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Champion knowledge-sharing of market intelligence and competitive information.
  • All other duties as needed or assigned-your leadership will know no bounds!
What We're Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor's in life science or business (advanced degree preferred). Equivalent relevant experience considered.
  • Experience: 12+ years in sales (or related field) selling services directly to pharmaceutical/biotech sectors, with 4+ years in sales management.
  • Expertise: Advanced industry knowledge, demonstrated client retention, strategic planning, negotiation, and global collaboration skills.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate client-facing teams; exceptional executive management and teamwork skills within a matrix organization.
  • Consultative and Customer-Focused: Highly consultative approach with a strong customer orientation and the ability to differentiate Fortrea from competitors.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Flexibility to participate in meetings across multiple time zones, including outside core working hours.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet client deliverables or attend key meetings.
  • Ability to travel to client offices, sales meetings, and Fortrea locations.

Pay Range: $220,000-$240,000 (The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity)

Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Varied hours may be required.
