Tesla's Energy Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to build and develop "The machine that builds the machine"- crafting revolutionary tools and processes that unlock sustainable abundance. You'll collaborate with dynamic cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, etc.) across the entire product lifecycle, from bold initial concepts and prototype breakthroughs to seamless full-scale production. Together, we'll develop high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes to produce advanced battery modules for Tesla's power electronics, supporting advancements that expand access to abundant clean energy, evolve industries, and promote a sustainable future. This role involves domestic and international travel as needed for projects.

What You'll Do
  • Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds and medium to high-volume production, collaborating with equipment integrators on design and manufacturing

  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor
  • Develop new manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and scalability
  • Determine layout of production workstations, optimizing for product flow, ergonomics, and overall efficiency
  • Perform process analysis, including DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, capacity modeling/simulation, and DFM input to the design team for process and yield improvements
  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment

What You'll Bring
  • 3+ years' experience developing mechanical and/or electromechanical systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on proficiency with 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
  • Familiarity with conveyance systems, transducer-based fastening (Atlas Copco preferred), robotics (Fanuc or Kuka preferred), adhesive dispensing, laser welding, or automated functional testing
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
  • Experience in providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) input
