Job Description

We are hiring two (2) experienced Property & Casualty insurance attorneys support Product and Distribution teams.

Both positions serve as trusted legal advisors embedded in the business, partnering closely with Product, Pricing, Underwriting, Regulatory, and Distribution leaders to ensure insurance products are designed, approved, and delivered to market in a compliant, scalable, and growth-oriented way.

While the roles share a common foundation in product development and regulatory law, they differ in business focus:
*One role is dedicated exclusively to Product
*One role splits support between Product and Distribution

Final alignment will be based on business need and candidate experience. Core Responsibilities (Applicable to Both Roles)
  • Provide proactive, business-focused legal guidance on Property & Casualty insurance matters
  • Serve as a trusted legal partner on complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate moderately complex agreements and legal documents
  • Conduct legal research to interpret laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Advise stakeholders on regulatory developments, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate across Law & Regulation to align legal strategy and execution
  • Support internal legal strategy, communications, and planning efforts
Role A Responsibilities: Product-Focused Insurance Attorney

This role is deeply embedded in the Product organization, providing end-to-end legal support for insurance product development and regulatory approval.

Primary focus includes:

  • Policy drafting, revisions, and state filings
  • Regulatory research, DOI engagement, and objection management
  • Advising Product, Pricing, and Underwriting on compliance and risk
  • Supporting regulatory market conduct exams and rate reviews
  • Providing strategic legal guidance on product design, rollout, and lifecycle management
Role B: Product & Distribution Insurance Attorney

This role supports both Product and Distribution, serving as a legal bridge between product approval and market deployment.

In addition to core Product responsibilities, this role:

  • Advises on how approved products are distributed across multiple channels, including Exclusive Agents (EAs), Independent Agents (NatGen/IA), and Direct channels
  • Provides legal guidance on distribution strategy, rollout sequencing, and compliance considerations
  • Reviews and advises on distribution-facing materials, including agent communications, training content, and sales enablement materials
  • Supports enterprise initiatives focused on growth, retention, and lowering cost of acquisition
  • Partners with Distribution leadership on forward-looking strategy and operating model evolution
Education & Licensing
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active law license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Experience
  • 7+ years of legal experience within the insurance industry, with a strong background in Property & Casualty, preferably Personal Property Lines (PPL).
  • Deep familiarity with insurance operations and products; direct product development experience is not required, but candidates must demonstrate a strong command of Allstate's products in the market.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, interest, or hands-on experience with artificial intelligence, generative AI, and emerging intelligent systems. Ability to engage on legal and regulatory considerations related to AI adoption while enabling innovation, efficiency, and scalable legal support models within a highly regulated insurance environment.
  • Experience advising business partners in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance.
  • Exposure to distribution, regulatory, underwriting, claims, or enterprise insurance operations is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Distribution, Pricing, or Regulatory teams.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 120,000.00 - 193,725.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
