Overview
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. This position is responsible for the advanced preparation, review, analysis, and timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports to the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and state regulators with a heavy focus on Regulatory Reporting and Bank's Capital and RWA calculations as per Basel III Standardized Approach rules. Serves as subject matter expert (SME) and work with other team members on the preparation, reporting, and analysis of capital calculations, regulatory reporting, external disclosures, and management reporting. Recommends updates and enhancements to maximize efficiencies and accuracy. Provides training and shares knowledge with other associates in the work group.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Reporting - Work on monthly capital calculations and reporting as per Basel III Standardized Approach for RWA calculations, provide detailed variance analysis for Bank's senior management teams. Ensure controls and governance documentation is kept updated and enforced as part of process execution. Demonstrate ability to multitask during key reporting periods to handle multiple deliverables in tight timelines. Work on required external disclosures like Pillar 3 disclosures as needed. Develop understanding of capital rules, liaison with change team and other stake holders to improve process automation and data quality. Ensures compliance with internal regulatory reporting policies and procedures.
- Regulatory Communications - Participates in and shares expert knowledge on the preparation, review, and submission of other regulatory report filings with the appropriate regulatory bodies including, but not limited to, the Call Report, FRY 9C; Pillar 3 Disclosures. Serves as a point of contact to support audit activities for regulatory examinations as well as internal and external audits.
- Collaboration - Builds and maintains working relationships with department peers and senior leadership in other enterprise functions to ensure reported data and data aggregations align with regulatory requirements. Builds relationships with other Financial, business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), analysts, and developers to gather information and to ensure requirements are captured and solutions are appropriately implemented to address any business needs.
- Peer Leadership - Assists management in the onboarding and training of new associates. Mentors less experienced associates, including guidance on daily output and projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in GAAP Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in GAAP Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting Preferred Education: Advanced Degree Preferred Area of Experience: Axiom SL Controller View License or Certification Type: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of financial products (e.g. loans, securities, securitization, derivatives, etc.)
- Understanding of regulatory reporting instructions and capital regulations
- Ability to lead projects / initiatives with high risk and complexity
- Ability to read and interpret regulatory guidance and instructions and assess applicability to the Bank
- Strong analytical skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, and self-motivated problem solver
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Power-Point
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL
