Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We Require

  • Two years of administrative experience that includes research, report preparation, or project coordination

  • Associate's degree

  • A combination of related post-secondary education or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with Animal Care agencies

  • Experience with process improvement or statistical analysis

Job Contributions

  • Research and analyze policies to assist with process improvement initiatives

  • Maintain the department SharePoint site, including org chart, phone tree, calendars, events, and maintain the Policy and Procedures folders

  • Act as telecom and facilities coordinator, assist with the fleet management program

  • Act as the department liaison for projects, vendors, and purchases

  • Ensure all IT equipment is provisioned and functioning for new hires. Collect old devices and review for replacement as needed

  • Lead the department's Safety Committee, Continuity of Operation Planning, assist with onboarding, and other key initiatives

  • Provide confidential administrative and clerical support to the Director and Deputy Director

  • Coordinate and manage staff recognition events as well as special projects and tasks

  • Review and respond to routine inquiries that do not require supervisory attention; answer questions and provide information regarding department policies and procedures; research and provide a variety of special reports and schedules; prepare materials for a variety of meetings

  • Assist other divisions with special projects to support the department

Working Conditions

  • This position works in a busy, often noisy, office setting within an animal shelter, with proximity to animals of all types. May be eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period

  • Exposure to cleaning products used in animal shelters and the smells associated with animal housing

  • While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and occasionally stand and walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery or uneven, and rough

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree

  • The position may require travel during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used in County business
