Job Summary The Manager Information Governanceleads the management of NiSource's Records & Information Management ("RIM") Program, electronic discovery ("e-Discovery"), and Legal Holds functions. Job functions include directing strategy, design, development, implementation, modernization, maintenance and enforcement of these enterprise programs. The Manager is responsible for setting and maintaining accountability, goals and objectives while providing expertise in the management of information, records and legal holds, including considerations for compliance, electronic and physical information risk, legal and regulatory issues, privacy, industry best practices, and the implementation of efficient processes for timely access, retrieval and disposal of information compliant with policy. The Manager, in close partnership with NiSource's Data Governance, IT, Cyber Security, and other key stakeholders, supports the digital transformation of records and information at NiSource, driving efficiencies, automation, digitization, and leveraging the adoption of modern technology to create efficiencies, enhance compliance and mitigate risk. The Manager is responsible for program policies, retention schedules, and procedures to champion advanced information lifecycle management, optimizing retention, access, and defensible disposition of records and information. By fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement through targeted training, change management, and stakeholder engagement, the Manager ensures both the records and e-Discovery functions remain agile and resilient, forging a pathway to a digital future while meeting governance, compliance, and regulatory oversight needs on a daily basis.
Essential Functions Program Awareness, Training, and Change Management
- Champion the Corporate Records & Information Management ("RIM") Program, Legal Hold, and e-Discovery functions by developing and implementing comprehensive, modernized training initiatives and ongoing awareness campaigns across the organization to ensure the overall success of both programs
- Utilize resources, data analytics and industry best practices to conduct an annual overview of health of the Records Management, Legal Hold, and e-Discovery functions, identifying areas of improvement and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Design and deliver regular, enterprise-wide awareness campaigns as well as enhanced training programs tailored for "super users," ensuring consistent engagement and up-to-date knowledge throughout the organization
- Maintain and strengthen program awareness and understanding among all employees and contractors by coordinating scheduled reviews and implementing adaptive change-management processes as policies, retention schedules, and process or procedures evolve
Policy, Process, and Compliance Framework
- Modernize the Records Management and Legal Hold/e-Discovery policy framework and process to provide clear guidelines and expectations in the management of records and legal holds
- Champion enterprise-wide accountability for information and records management across all functional business areas
- Facilitate regular cross-functional review sessions, leveraging digital compliance tools and stakeholder feedback to validate and drive compliance with both functions
- Evaluates findings, plots trends, determines effectiveness of assessments, and identifies and drives lessons learned to increase compliance for both functions
- Closely collaborate with key business units, including IT, Cyber Security and Data Governance, to develop and implement forward-thinking strategies for managing and securing electronic recordings, including the integration of legal hold preservation protocols and e-discovery processes
- Monitors best practices and industry trends in records management, legal hold, and e-discovery
- Continuously reviews and improves the Corporate Records Management Program, Legal Hold, and e-Discovery, leveraging technology and new processes to enhance efficiencies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Records Lifecycle, Legal Hold/e-Discovery and Information Management Systems
- Leads, with key business functions, the strategic design, implementation, security, and ongoing optimization of document information management systems and lifecycle management of both digital and physical records to ensure information integrity, security, compliance, and legal hold preservation impacts to create seamless access and alignment with the organization's overarching objectives along with industry best practices
- Leads and manages the enterprise Records Retention Schedule, establishes a systematic review process for comprehensive retention requirements as legal and regulatory requirements change to drive efficiency and efficiency awareness of changes
- Coordinates with Legal, Compliance, and business units to assess and interpret changes, ensuring timely update to the Retention Schedule, legal hold protocols, and records destruction procedures
- Analyzes the information needs of the organization and develops and drives strategic frameworks based on these needs; evaluates and make strategic recommendations concerning hardware, software, and systems to improve efficiencies
- Coordinates company responses to information inquiries and data requests
- Translates operating and legal requirements into successful strategic action plans and programs
- Supports and provides guidance on disaster recovery plans for vital information and records
Financial Oversight and Vendor Management
- Creates accountability and business discipline by driving accurate financial reporting and compliance activities, both internally and externally
- Analyzes costs, best practices and benchmarking to determine cost-effective handling for the records program, retention schedule, records storage and destruction, along with cost-effective and efficiencies for the Legal Hold and e-Discovery programs
- Owns and manages vendor(s) relationships for records storage, retrieval, secure destruction, and e-Discovery services to ensure compliance, governance, data integrity, and legal requirements
- Validates the accuracy of vendor invoices, identifies cost and process efficiencies, including appropriate costs to individual departments for records and shredding services, and ensures timely processing of payments
Team Leadership and Professional Development
- Leads a blended and diverse high-performing team with full responsibility for talent acquisition, development, and management-including hiring, termination, promotion, demotion, coaching, and ongoing performance optimization
- Directs and executes business related projects, including data analysis, development of documents, preservation requirements, and preparation of presentations; directs work to planned timeline and coordinates assistance from other team members
- Attends industry conferences to stay abreast of best practices and trends
Required Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business, legal, or related fields
- Experience acquired through practical experience or continuing education/certification
- At least 7 years of experience in one or more of the following: management, supervisory, and/ or business experience
- Highly self-motivated with strong business, analytical and organizational abilities; able to work independently, collaborate effectively and lead others
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills / Skilled in writing, presenting and thought leadership
- Adept at working with professionals at all organizational levels
- Demonstrates integrity, maintains confidentiality, and exhibits excellent decision-making ability and initiative
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously along with high delegation and clear expectations to the team
- Willingness to travel as needed, including periodic overnight stay and overtime
- Proficient with office technologies including Microsoft 365, content and legal hold management systems, file analytics tools, and other relevant technologies, with a demonstrated ability to stay current with technology trends and adapt to industry changes
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- 1-3 years records and information management/information governance or Legal Hold/e-Discovery experience, preferably in the utilities industry.

Salary Range*: $110,200.00 - $165,300.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-01-08
