Mechanical Designer

What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring a Mechanical Designer! This individual will provide drafting and design support to the engineering department by assuming full drafting responsibility for assigned datacenter project. We are seeking candidates who have strong knowledge of system design using Creo. This position is based in New Freedom, PA, but can be remote for the right candidate!

How you will do it

• Proficient knowledge of Creo 3D design software.

• Proficient knowledge of PLM Windchill is a plus.

• Displays basic project management skills

• Prepares layouts of subassemblies or portions of projects that require a high degree of precision and expertise from engineering data in one or more of the following areas:

  • Piping assemblies.

  • Sheet metal and plate fabrication.

  • Weldments.

  • Heavy equipment manufacturing.

  • Pressure vessel code.

• Prepares change orders after investigating change requests, resolves shop problems and proposes redesigns to improve performance or reduce costs.

• Check work of others that is similar in type and complexity to that which is personally performed.

• Proficient knowledge of manufacturing processes (Welding, Bending, Brazing, Piping, Insulation, Assembling etc).

• Demonstrates proficient knowledge of design procedures such as retrieving and applying information from engineering standards and schematics, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings and Bills of Material.

• Demonstrates knowledge of SAP or other Material Resource Planning software to investigate existing material and BOMs.

What you will need
Required

• Associates degree and 7+ years of mechanical design experience
• 3+ years of experience with Creo 3D design software
• System level design experience or experience designing within a heavy equipment/manufacturing industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $60,000 - $80,000 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
