Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee's primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company's remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Responsible for crafting short-term and long-term strategies for Renewables business initiatives. Role requires understanding of current and emerging clean energy technologies, in-depth financial modeling, strategic planning, and analysis. Provide vital research and support for regulatory cases, evaluates financial impacts of renewable and clean energy initiatives, and formulates business plans to achieve strategic goals. Stages analyses and plans to senior management and other departments within the company.

Span of Control: 0, Individual Contributor.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Develops detailed financial models on a variety of clean energy technologies to facilitate strategic decision-making and enhance the financial performance of renewable energy projects.
  2. Analyzes the financial implications of internal and external clean energy proposals, including regulatory and policy changes, on strategic, operating, and financial aspects.
  3. Assists in creating strategic presentations, executive summaries, and deliverables for senior management.
  4. Constructs business cases for major projects, integrating technology options and financial considerations into strategic planning.
  5. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to investigate, analyze, and advise senior management on strategic and operational clean energy matters.
  6. Utilizes analytical and financial expertise to support various business units, ensuring sound financial decision-making.
  7. Acts as an internal consultant for the Renewables business unit, offering insights to support overarching strategic initiatives.
  8. Applies continuous improvement methodologies to identify deficiencies and enhance processes.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 5 years of job-related experience within strategy, finance or business, or engineering, specific to renewables/clean energy or utility industry.

Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Master's degree in finance or business-related discipline
  • Experience in Renewables/ Clean Energy

Other Requirements

  • Understanding of renewable and storage technologies, regulatory accounting principles and energy market dynamics
  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicates clearly with credibility and confidence
  • Extensive knowledge of data analysis; ability to summarize data effectively and provide appropriate summaries in response to common business questions
  • Experience in cost and performance metrics; especially interpretation, trending and writing high level performance commentary
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives and recommend optimal solutions for various situations
  • Ability to develop and coordinate cross-functional work groups and projects yielding optimal outcomes
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to work with shifting priorities and embrace new or evolving responsibilities
