Senior Project Manager - Architecture (2)

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for Registered Architect in the role of Senior Project Manager at our Orlando office. This role serves as the lead for all responsibilities related to the management of projects assigned. The Project Manager works closely with senior office leadership related to establishing, monitoring, and managing the project requirements, including scope, schedule, and budget, and the project workplan to achieve project success. The role partners with the senior architecture lead, to jointly establish the project team's work requirements, resourcing, and delivery of our design work. In addition to serving and the management lead, the PM is also expected to serve as support and resource to the design teams through all project phases including business and client development, programming, design and construction documents, and construction administration, and maintaining strong client relationships. Candidates should have extensive experience in commercial markets to include commercial development, hospitality, retail & entertainment, mixed-use, and similar. The ideal candidate will have experience in additional project/client types such as institutional.

Education: Master's and/or Professional Degree required

Duties:

  • Leads management of assigned projects as the PM and can serve as a resource to the office and works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to produce design documents for a wide variety of commercial building types.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of assigned projects for the effective management of the team and design delivery.
  • Supervise project team's work cooperatively with the project architect and project designer.
  • Monitor and review any proposed changes to design or contract terms, and effectively manage any change with project team, consultants, and client.
  • Prepare plan of action to resolve project issues and ensure buy-in and results.
  • Assist market sector teams in preparing proposals, and participating in new project presentations as requested.
  • Collaborate with project teams to solve tough problems and collaborate for solutions.
  • Maintain financial acumen in business strategy, project workplan, and project accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and actively communicates with office and market leadership of upcoming opportunities within a client group.
  • Prepare a Project Workplan and manage the day-to-day activities against the Workplan and budget.
  • Serve as POC with the Client and facilitate and manage project communications.
  • Facilitate project progress meetings and account for meeting minutes and actions items.
  • Ensure project development, documentation and its completion meets schedule, budget, code requirements, and technical quality requirements, in cooperation with the project team.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Competent, knowledgeable, service leader.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verifies client satisfaction routinely and shares feedback with team.
  • Proactively works with PIC to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Reviews progress with PIC weekly (including & completes vs. % spent) adhering to weekly rhythm.
  • Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.
  • Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree (Master or Bachelor) in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Registered Licensed Architect required.
  • Minimum 10 years in the profession, that may include as Architect, and actively as PM.
  • Demonstrated financial and management capabilities with strong understanding of design and construction phases of work - tracking financial performance of project.
  • Proficiency with project management software.
  • Strong skills in financial software and utilizing platforms to effectively manage projects.
  • Working knowledge of Revit preferred.
  • Demonstrated building construction technical experience.
  • Have worked in commercial markets, and additionally institutional is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Experience negotiating project scope and fees.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to collaborative design process.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate design and consultant teams.
  • Ability to interact with owners and user groups.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and standards.

Physical Requirements:
