Overview (Scope of Role)

The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining cloud services, virtual machines, VNETs, Kubernetes, etc. Developing and deploying IT solutions meeting the business requirements; Responsible for the backup management solution (design, implement and maintain) and ensure all data and system backups are scheduled and monitored. Pro-actively ensuring the optimal performance of the VMs, servers, applications and other systems. Provide Level3 support for incidents and requests, meeting the agreed service levels. Participate in the annual disaster recovery testing.

This will be a hybrid position.



Responsibilities

    Provide L3 support for VMs / servers, Cloud services, incidents and requests. Troubleshoot any alerts, review logs and ensure business continuity. Provide support to the L2 team for the daily backups and resolve any missing backups to ensure data and system recovery is secured. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for P1 /P2 Incidents with clear preventive actions and milestones and targets - 20%
  • Lead or participate in Projects to provide Cloud services and On-Prem server hosting solution. This is including setting up new Linux / Windows systems, create VNETs / review policies for new Firewall rules, routing and Azure Network definition and requirements. This includes on premise hosting and in-cloud hosting, working closely with our IT partners and on-site Field Service Engineers. - 40%
  • Proactively manage the hosting platform to ensure all systems are performing and prevent events that will be impacting performance or creating incidents. Improve system monitoring capabilities and alerting, to ensure the correct notifications are logged, recorded and the ensure the right support process are followed. Responsible for the lifecycle of the On-Prem hardware, Operating Systems and ensure Security patching activities continue on the required devices and OS systems. - 40%


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or similar level work experience, preferably in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field;
  • Minimal 8 years of IT System and Cloud experience.
  • Willing to learn new skills, open to change, adaptable, and customer focused.
  • Excellent experience in the Azure Cloud Platform and services.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell)
  • Programming experience (Kubernetes, Docker etc)
  • Good understanding and experience with Linux (SUSE) and Window Server platforms.
  • Good understanding of monitoring of cloud services.
  • Good understanding of backup services (Commvault)
