Position Summary

UNM is looking for a multimedia marketing specialist-a videographer, photographer, editor, visual marketer, and creative visual storyteller-who will contribute to and elevate The University of New Mexico's brand.

The Multimedia Marketing Specialist is a content producer role, focused primarily on creating video along with photo and other visual marketing content for broad use-from paid and organic social media to broadcast advertising, event feature videos to nationally targeted promotional campaigns.

This position requires advanced technical expertise in video production and visual design, as well as a deep, experienced understanding of marketing trends and fundamentals. The selected person will handle video and multimedia projects from concept to creation, developing story boards, writing scripts, coordinating talent and locations, recording, editing, and publishing work. They will also advance the overarching UNM brand strategy by helping to develop and maintain UNMs video brand standards, and regularly participate in UCAM's brand management, advisement, and training services.

This new team member will work closely with other UCAM professionals-staff and students skilled in video production, photography, graphic design, digital marketing, social media, and more-on projects and events that reach every UNM stakeholder from future students to lifelong Lobo alumni.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of University Marketing, Creative Production and is a part of the University's marketing team. UCAM is represented by marketing, communications, web communications, and social media teams which operate in an integrated marketing communication model.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, design, plan and produce multimedia content for a range of distribution channels, including but not limited to television, radio, social media, web and mobile applications, and digital ad networks.
  • Provide feedback to other multimedia producers across campus
  • Serve as project manager on productions of varying project size
  • Support institutional marketing projects through video content development
  • Assist in management and scheduling of audio/video production equipment, and evaluate audio/video equipment to make recommendations for new purchases or upgrades
  • Support on campus commercial filming requests

Critical Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced in visual/multimedia content production, including editing and color grading (at least 2+ years)
  • Expert in video/photo camera, lighting equipment, audio equipment and accessories
  • Highly motivated and capable of learning new technical skills and technology platforms
  • Proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite for video and other creative content production
  • Experienced in motion graphics, lower thirds and graphic design
  • Knowledgeable about marketing strategy and tactics including digital and traditional advertising
  • Strong understanding of content development for social media platforms and web applications

Working Requirements:

This position is normally performed on campus and during regular business hours. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
