This is a site-based role and requires attendance at the site 4 to 5 days a week in Phoenix, Arizona.

Position Overview

The EHS Manager works with the North American EHS team and local Data Center Operational teams to support the implementation of a world-class environmental health and safety system. This role focuses on maintaining the highest EHS standards within a specific campus or facility to meet Vantage and Customer requirements.

Position Description

The EHS Manager is responsible for the day-to-day health and safety of our Data Centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting our employees at the site level. They will work closely with site Operations, Security, and Logistics teams to execute Vantage's health and safety program. The EHS Manager partners with operational teams to ensure risks are identified and mitigated in real-time and oversees sub-contractors to ensure adherence to safety goals. This position is pivotal to ensuring that we continue to lead the industry in operational excellence with particular emphasis on executing and reporting on all EHS areas within the local business unit.

The role requires autonomy and is responsible for implementing and monitoring processes that include:

  • High Risk Activities: Working at Heights, Mobile Equipment, Hazardous Materials Management, Confined Space, Lifting Operations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Excavations, Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E), Fire Safety & Hot Works.

  • Occupational Health & Hygiene: Ergonomics, thermal hazards, noise monitoring, and industrial hygiene exposure assessments.

  • Emergency Response: Executing site drills and maintaining local emergency plans.

  • Risk Mitigation: Facilitating Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Method of Procedure (MOP) reviews.

  • 3rd Party Safety: Vendor and contractor field oversight.

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactive Risk Management: Conduct daily floor walks and inspections to identify hazards, focusing on high-frequency/low-consequence hazards and low-frequency/high-consequence events.

  • Operational Support: Provide immediate support and guidance for all EHS matters by liaising with the Site Operations Director to ensure safety expectations are understood and delivered.

  • System Implementation: Effective implementation of the organization's ISO 45001/14001 Management System processes, documentation, and training at the site level.

  • Audit & Compliance: Undertake EHS operational audits and inspections; ensure compliance with all North American policy and strategy, and collate documented evidence of corrective actions.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain EHS documentation, records, and data integrity within the company's documentation platform.

  • Customer Interaction: Daily interactions with on-site customers delivering EHS support and guidance where required.

Duties

  • Report to the Director of EHS or Regional Senior EHS Manager and serve as the primary contact for the implementation of EHS programs at the appointed location.

  • Review working practices to ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work, OSHA regulations, and company policies.

  • Conduct and review workplace risk/exposure for different types of hazards ensuring controls and mitigation are correct.

  • Undertake EHS accident investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified and closed.

  • Deliver EHS campus-specific induction and training programs (internal and regulatory).

  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate summaries of standards to site leadership to assure compliance.

  • Analyze site-specific EHS metrics and communicate results to local leadership to drive action.

Responsibilities

  • The promotion of Vantage EHS programs and awareness to all campus employees and subcontractors.

  • Advise, support, and ensure local regulatory requirements comply with US operations (OSHA/EPA).

  • Assist with hosting external audits and enforcement visits (OSHA/Fire Marshal) when required.

  • Develop and support Safety Representatives / Safety Champions within the campus.

  • Provide support to the Campus Operations Director to ensure all EHS requirements are in place.

  • Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported, investigated, and recorded in a timely manner.

  • Monitor the performance of work procedures (MOPs/SOPs) to verify appropriate risk controls are established.

  • Prepare weekly/monthly site reports, ensuring data accuracy.

  • Conduct weekly/monthly EHS committee meetings with stakeholders.

  • Assist with the Sub-contractor approval assessment/review where applicable.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.

  • Certifications: GSP, ASP, or OHST preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS, with demonstrated knowledge controlling risks in an industrial or mission-critical environment.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Current working knowledge of US regulations (OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, EPA) and standards (NFPA 70E, ANSI).

  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.

  • Soft Skills: Role requires a self-starter, a skilled communicator, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
