The Cook prepares food in accordance with prescribed production sheets and is responsible for maintaining H.A.C.C.P. documentation, as well as ensuring general environmental sanitation.

Education:

A high school diploma with six months hospital food service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Accurately prepares foods according to recipes, special functions, and production charts.
  • When preparing food, always follow H.A.C.C.P. guidelines for safe food handling (time and temperature).
  • Consistently maintains H.A.C.C.P. food production records to include potentially hazardous food temperatures, roast meat charts, refrigerator/freezer logs and cooling logs. In addition completes all paperwork required by the hospital as well as state and local agencies.
  • Regularly samples food for consistency of taste and recipe compliance.
  • May serve on serving lines as needed or may work a cook's position as needed.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and sanitary manner by cleaning equipment and facilities.
  • Ensures proper setup of cafeteria line and/or patient trayline for foods prepared and then keeps them adequately supplied.
  • Requires lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
  • Assists in assembly of foods for next day meals

Salary Range: Minimum 20.40/hour - Maximum 33.65/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
