Group: Road

Position: Team Lead

Location: Austin, TX, Round Rock, TX, Las Colinas, TX

We are seeking a Team Leader to provide leadership, coordination, and oversight for a roadway design team within the Texas Road Group located in our Austin, Round Rock or Las Colinas design centers. The Team Leader manages daily operations, project execution, and staff development for all work performed within the team, while supporting group-wide goals related to quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. The team will consist of project management, technical and support staff at multiple career and experience levels, performing work specific to the team as well as supporting work from other teams and design centers. The Team Leader will also serve as Project Manager and engineer of record for specific assigned projects.

The ideal candidate is an experienced roadway design professional with strong communication and organizational skills who thrives in leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring technical staff.



Responsibilities

    Lead and manage a project team responsible for roadway design and production.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful work culture focused on results and development of staff.
  • Oversee project execution, schedules, budgets, billing, and deliverables to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Serve as a day-to-day resource for technical guidance, mentorship, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and other staff to allocate resources effectively.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, workload planning, and project progress reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with local, TxDOT, AASHTO, and company standards on all deliverables.
  • Review and approve project plans, specifications, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in performance reviews and support staff professional development plans.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation.
  • Assist Group Leader with business development and proposal efforts as needed.
  • Lead significant projects within the team as Project Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • 8 or more years progressive experience in roadway design and project management.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop project teams.
  • Working knowledge of TxDOT and municipal standards.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
