Position Summary:
The IT Intern will assist the Technical Services team in providing frontline support for end users, performing basic PC hardware troubleshooting, and managing IT assets. This role is ideal for students or entry-level candidates seeking hands-on experience in IT operations and customer support


Job Functions:
Helpdesk Support



  • Respond to user requests via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Assist with password resets, account unlocks, and basic application support.
  • Document issues and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior technicians when necessary.


Basic PC Hardware Troubleshooting



  • Diagnose and resolve common hardware issues (keyboards, monitors, cables)
  • Assist with installation and configuration of desktops, laptops, and printers.
  • Perform routine checks on hardware functionality and connectivity.


Asset Management



  • Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets (PCs, printers, peripherals)
  • Tag and track equipment through its lifecycle (deployment retirement)
  • Assist with updating asset records in management systems.



Required Competencies:



  • Judgment and initiative are necessary in setting priorities to meet deadlines and to deal with non-standard situations.
  • Frequent telephone, electronic, and personal contact with co-workers.



Education & Experience:

Required



  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and PC components
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and move computer and printer hardware (up to 40 lbs.)
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.


Preferred



  • Working towards, or recently completed, a 2- or 4-year degree in an Information Technology related field.
  • Customer service experience



Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Learning Opportunities



  • Exposure to enterprise IT operations and Helpdesk workflows
  • PC imaging, deployment, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Training in asset management best practices and IT compliance standards



Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel:



  • Majority of time spent at low activity level, i.e., sitting
  • Occasional standing/walking/movement required
