Position Overview

The Product Owner for Business Intelligence and Claim Modeling plays a central role in shaping the analytical capabilities that drive client insight, operational transparency, and strategic decision-making. This role owns the vision, roadmap, and execution for our internal Business Intelligence dashboards as well as our claims modeling product-ensuring each delivers measurable value, intuitive user experiences, and actionable intelligence for both clients and internal teams.

As a key member of the Product organization, the Product Owner partners closely with Client Services, Business Analysts, Engineering, and Technical Writing to manage product enhancements, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and ensure high-quality documentation and support resources. This role also serves as a primary point of contact for client relationships related to BI and modeling, helping to interpret trends, address questions, resolve issues, and bring the "voice of the customer" into product planning.

The ideal candidate blends strong analytical thinking, client empathy, technical fluency, and a proactive, collaborative approach to product delivery. They will work cross-functionally to refine requirements, prioritize backlog items, guide development teams, and maintain alignment between strategic objectives and day-to-day execution.

Whatyou'lldo:

  • Partner with leadership to evaluate performance trends and recommend roadmap adjustments aligned with divisional growthobjectives.

  • Participate in relevant Agile ceremonies: Daily Stand-Ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective.

  • Assistwith the elaboration of the user stories and requirements, supporting team members with their work whererequired

  • Ownthe roadmap and delivery for internal Business Intelligence dashboards, ensuring the toolsprovideclear insights, trend analysis, and operational value for customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Lead product strategy and enhancements for the claims modeling product, ensuring alignment with client needs and business goals.

  • Manage client relationships related tobusinessintelligence andmodeling solutions, including addressing inquiries, interpreting insights, and supporting client-facing teams.

  • Define, implement, andmaintainbusiness processes and procedures to meet businessobjectives. Analyze andidentifyopportunities for business process improvements.

  • Coordinate with Technical Writers to ensure system documentation, release notes, and training materials areaccurate, clear, and user-friendly.

  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information intodetails.

  • Create andmaintainworkflows, approval processes, and validation rules based on internal stakeholder requirements.

  • Create training materials and documentation for internal and/or external applications.

  • Perform a thorough gap analysis ofexistingpotential functionality for internal and/or external applications.

  • Perform analysis andidentifygaps in functionality for system integrations.

  • Collaborate with the Scrum team toestablishtechnicalvision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.

  • Improvessystems by studying currentpractices anddesigning modifications.

  • Define acceptance criteria and oversee UAT validation to ensure alignment with business intent.

  • Department, Research Department and Operations teams) as needed

  • Keep abreastof issuestoidentifyenhancements andprocess improvementopportunities

  • Accurately scopes out projects, setsobjectives, and goals, develops schedules, measures performance against goals, and evaluates results

  • Proactivelyidentifygaps in data transparency or modeling accuracy and propose product enhancements.

  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance guidelines

  • Maintainsawareness of andensuresadherence to ZELIS standardsregardingprivacy.

Whatyou'llbring to Zelis:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred in business, healthcare, or technology

  • 5+ years of experienceas a healthcare data analystor BI Product Owner

  • A hands-on leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment

  • 5+ years of experiencedhealthcare industrybusiness analyst withexpertisein managed care, claims pricing/adjudication, EDI, government programs

  • StrongSQL experiencerequired(Select, Joins, CTE, Sub Queries)

  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies including experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence, etc.) and/or Product Board is a plus

  • Experience in Data Visualization tools such as Tableau and Sigma

  • Experience in product development life cycle

  • Experience with writing business requirements, technical requirements, user stories, enabler stories, functional specifications, and/or quality assurance testing

  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite including Visioand/or Lucid

  • Workflow diagram creation and wireframe creation

  • Preferred skills include formal training/certifications in Business/System analysis; familiarity with latest UI/UX design guidelines; knowledge/experience withSAFe/Agile methodologies; prototyping experience

  • Creative problem-solving skills,leveraginginsights and input from other parts of an organization

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and balance team and individual workloads through effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

  • Financial modeling and strong analyticalskills

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

Base Salary Range

$95,000.00 - $120,650.00

At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
