The Distributed Generation (DG) Group is the single front door for interconnection and the glue across Engineering, Energy Services, and Customer Operations. Our goal is simple: a smooth, transparent, best-in-class customer experience that gets clean energy projects energized faster and with fewer surpriseswhile maintaining system reliability and meeting all regulatory requirements.Role OverviewThe Distributed Generation Strategy Manager will lead the Company's strategy, policy, and regulatory work related to DG interconnection. You'll bring together internal experts and external partners customers and developers, aggregators, DPS Staff, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Joint Utilities Interconnection Policy Working Group (IPWG), and other stakeholders to evolve policies and technical standards to expand integration of DG into Con Edison's grid, improve interconnection processes, DG customer service offerings, and data transparency and hosting-capacity guidance, and expand the Company's support for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Order 2222 market participation. Your work will turn customer and operational insights, government and policy priorities, and stakeholder feedback into changes that make interconnection easier and expand progress towards DG goals.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers, DG developers, and technology providers, and build, maintain, and create new relationships.
  • Lead a team of developer go-to partnersfoster a strong working relationship with developers so they can reach out to you if they need support.
  • Oversee all aspects of the team including planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing resources needed to achieve key internal goals.
  • Manage the teams effort on day-to-day delivery for all DG/storage projectsset clear next steps, owners, and timelines; keep everyone aligned and informed.
  • Lead collaboration with other members of the DG team, as well as other internal departments including engineering organizations and Energy Services
  • Lead and manage your team by creating the conditions for success by maintaining appropriate resourcing levels, providing clear, action-oriented direction, efficient allocation of project and non-project work, and a consistent focus on developing team skills.
  • Develop your direct reports through coaching, creating development opportunities, and performance management along with being available for regular touchpoints to discuss work, goals, and professional development opportunities.
  • Streamline handoffs across Distribution Engineering, Energy Services, Construction, Metering, Telemetry, and Billing/Crediting to reduce delays and rework.
  • Turn insights into actionmonitor, analyze, and report on program performance at various levels.
  • Provide customer perspective input on the development of software used to administer and operate the program and where needed support data management and quality control.
  • Engage with Strategy/Regulatory personneluse your customer insights and operational expertise to support development of strategic planning and regulatory activities such as filings
  • Ensure transparency and accountability through regular reporting of status updates and expected timelines so customers and internal teams know exactly where things stand.
  • Lead design, development, and administration of advisory services to help new and existing developers better understand the interconnection process, Company rates and incentive programs, and grid conditions where projects may be sited.
  • Oversee the end to end process for FERC 2222 aggregations of distributed energy resources in the NYISO market.
  • Support developers in upholding standards and safetyensuring consistency with SIR, Public Service Commission (PSC) orders and Joint Utilities Work Group technical requirements (smart-inverter settings, protection/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)) with complete, auditable documentation.
  • Represent the Company at industry conferences and meetings with external stakeholders related to the development of DG projects.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and Five years of relevant experience including energy policy, regulatory strategy, stakeholder engagement, or related analytical roles.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree MBA, or degree in sustainability, data science, or other related technical, business or energy focus
Relevant Work Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data into business insights and effectively communicate the information in oral and written deliverables. Required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) Required.
  • Ability to make decisions in real-time, under pressure. Required
  • Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new skills. Required
  • Strong presentation and writing skills. Required
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic environment. (Required)
  • 2 years of specific experience in utility DG programs, including work with utility DG program strategy, forecasting and reporting. Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, analyze and solve complex strategic and tactical opportunities. Preferred
  • Proven experience developing analytical tools leveraging techniques which may include statistics, predictive models, and/or machine learning. Preferred
  • Knowledge of distributed generation and/or clean energy programs and technologies. Preferred
  • Knowledge of national and New York State clean energy policy a plus. Preferred
  • Experience analyzing or managing program performance and/or pipelines. Preferred
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to see the big picture while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred
  • Experience working with diverse teams to align stakeholders around business solutions, and coach and work with these stakeholders through the implementation to drive business results Preferred
  • Demonstrated success in support of clean energy programs. (Preferred)
  • Understanding of New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) participation models and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Order 2222 frameworks. Preferred
  • Working knowledge of Standard Interconnection Requirements (SIR), Public Service Commission (PSC) orders, JU/ITWG guidance; familiarity with Cost-Sharing 2.0 and Utility Process governance. Preferred
  • Tools & data: familiarity with Con Edison software platforms; skills in SQL/Python/Power BI/Tableau helpful for concise visualizations. Preferred
  • Customer-centric mindset with examples of simplifying requirements and improving transparency. Preferred

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
