Come find your spark at Quartz! We are seeking a highly skilled technical and analytical individual to join our Business Configuration team as a Lead Interoperability Engineer. The Lead Interoperability Engineer provides the highest level solutioning to internal business stakeholders. This position will translate, solve, and document complex compliance, business, and technical requirements. This role will also drive business value by understanding use cases across internal stakeholders, members, providers, payers, vendors, and regulatory agencies. The lead Interoperability Engineer will coordinate vendors, mentor solution performance, and design solutions and communications, work with technical teams, document operational processes, and drive business use and value. - Starting salary is based upon skills and experience: $98,900 - $123,700 plus robust benefits package
Responsibilities
- Program strategy and leadership
- Develops, implements, and leads the overall interoperability strategy, aligning it with the company's broader goals and regulatory requirements.
- Leads cross-functional teams in executing interoperability projects and initiatives that drive operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Defines and prioritizes project roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery of critical interoperability milestones and objectives across departments.
- Fosters strong relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, third-party vendors, and partner organizations, to ensure smooth coordination and collaboration.
- Updates senior leadership and executives on program progress, risks, and outcomes, providing recommendations for adjustments when needed.
- Identifies potential risks related to program delivery, including integration challenges, regulatory compliance issues, or data security concerns.
- Proactively addresses issues and bottlenecks, utilizing problem-solving and negotiation skills to keep the program on track.
- Compliance, Governance, and Regulatory Management
- Ensures that all interoperability initiatives are designed and implemented in compliance with relevant healthcare regulations.
- Tracks changes in regulations and manages their impact on program execution, ensuring the company is aligned with new legal and industry requirements.
- Establishes and maintains policies and procedures that ensure the secure exchange of healthcare data between internal systems and external partners, meeting all data privacy and security regulations.
- Collaborates with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement data encryption, secure access protocols, and other best practices that safeguard sensitive health data during data exchanges.
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation for all aspects of the interoperability program, including project plans, workflows, data exchange protocols, compliance, certifications, and risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business engineering, or related technical field with 6+ years of experience in EHR (Electronic Health Record) and HIE (Health Information Exchange) technology and implementation.
- OR associate degree in computer science, business engineering, or related technical field with 9+ years of experience in EHR (Electronic Health Record) and HIE (Health Information Exchange) technology and implementation.
- OR high school equivalency with 12+ years of experience in EHR (Electronic Health Record) and HIE (Health Information Exchange) technology and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, CDA, CCD, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity of Epic software, including but not limited to Payer Platform.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with health IT systems, EHRs, and data integration technologies.
- Working knowledge of health information technology (HIT) industry.
- Technical architecture skills, process knowledge, project management, and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to read, decipher, and document complex regulatory documents.
- Ability to multi-task in rapidly evolving environment, in condensed timeframes; self-directed individual.
