Position description

The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for the position of Assistant Project Scientist, in the Division of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, Section of Restorative Dentistry, beginning on or about March 1, 2026. This is a paid, 100% time, non-Senate, non-tenure track position. A PhD degree and a minimum of 4 years of post-graduate level laboratory research experience is required for this position. Appointment level and compensation rate will be commensurate with experience.

The selected candidate will report directly to a senior faculty member in the Section of Restorative Dentistry and indirectly to the Chair of that Division/Section and will assist with and perform experiments pertaining to dental materials including ceramic bonding and 3D-printing resins. The candidate must be able to use Exocad and 3Shape, and is expected to work with CAD/CAM workflow independently. The candidate should know 3D morphometric analysis and in vitro mechanical property testing of dental materials. Prior experiences with clinical trial studies are highly desired, and the candidate should have experiences with manuscript writing as well as grant writing with successful acquirement.
