Job Overview

The Area Vice President, Network Operations is a key member of the Supply Chain and Network Operations team and holds responsibility for operational leadership, strategic direction, and P&L ownership. The role leads a multi-unit area that includes Macy's Customer Fulfillment and Store Delivery Distribution Centers. This position drives the execution of Macy's Supply Chain strategy through continuous process improvement, operational excellence, and strong cross-facility collaboration. The Area Vice President is results-oriented and promotes and emulates Macy's values and behaviors by fostering a colleague-centric environment.

What You Will Do



  • Lead supply chain operations in support of the company's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all locations meet or exceed operational and financial performance targets, including productivity, safety, shortage, cost control, quality, processing standards, reliability, customer service, and execution to plan.
  • Own the operational and financial performance of multiple locations, ensuring best practices are deployed consistently across the region.
  • Establish and sustain strong operational discipline to achieve productivity standards.
  • Analyze work processes to identify optimization opportunities and implement continuous improvements.
  • Develop and execute staffing plans and workforce strategies throughout the year.
  • Attract, develop, and retain high-performing teams that embrace aggressive goals, uphold high standards, and execute with urgency and accountability.
  • Develop current and future leaders by providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and skill development tailored to organizational needs.
  • Foster a culture of safety, diversity and inclusion, and respect for colleagues and customers.
  • Coordinate budget development and execution with operations by functional area.
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecasts to assess progress against goals and objectives.
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and shortage control through consistent enforcement of procedures and company policies.
  • Support staffing activities to ensure headcount aligns with building workload and volume throughout the year.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruitment strategies, staffing levels, and retention-focused culture initiatives.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Enterprise Supply Chain Leadership: Ability to lead large-scale, multi-site supply chain and network operations aligned to enterprise strategy, driving consistent execution across fulfillment and distribution centers.

P&L & Financial Management: Strong financial acumen with full P&L ownership, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and the ability to deliver value-added, actionable analyses.

Operational Excellence & Performance Management: Expertise in establishing operational discipline and achieving performance targets across productivity, safety, quality, service, cost, reliability, and execution to plan.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization: Proven ability to analyze end-to-end work processes, identify optimization opportunities, and implement sustainable continuous improvement initiatives at scale.

Multi-Site Operations Management: Demonstrated capability to own and optimize operational and financial performance across multiple locations while ensuring consistent deployment of best practices.

Change Management & Transformation Leadership: Strong change leadership skills with the ability to lead complex transformations, drive adoption, and sustain performance in dynamic environments.

Talent Development & Succession Planning: Proven experience attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing teams while building strong leadership pipelines through coaching, feedback, and development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Track record of effective partnership across Network Operations, Transportation, Product Flow, Inventory Planning, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resources.

Executive Communication & Influence: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and transparently, presenting complex operational and financial information effectively to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 10-20 years of experience in Supply Chain (multi-facility leadership preferred), Operations Management, E-Commerce Fulfillment, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
