LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, ANIMAL HEALTH PROGRAM DIVISION, DAVIDSON COUNTY Working Title: One Health Veterinarian Qualifications The One Health Staff Veterinarian serves as a key member of the Animal Health Division, supporting disease reporting, data management, and animal health programs statewide. Responsibilities include oversight of the One Health program, assists with management of cooperative agreements, and general staff veterinarian duties such as animal disease investigations and answering regulatory questions for stakeholders. This position offers opportunities to cross-train in additional programs and contribute to emergency response and One Health initiatives. Education and Experience: Possession of a doctorate in veterinary medicine from an approved school of veterinary medicine and experience equivalent to one year of full-time increasingly responsible professional experience as a Veterinarian. Necessary Special Qualifications: None. Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for professional veterinary work of considerable difficulty and administrative work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. Responsibilities 1. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the administration of the Animal Health Division. 2. Assists in the development of division operating budget. 3. Coordinates between the state veterinarians office and the field and laboratory activities. 4. .Participates in regional and national organizations and forums in the development and review of animal health programs. 5. Acts as a consultant to field employees in specialized animal industries programs. 6. Performs important and difficult public contact and liaison work in explaining and interpreting animal industry programs; participates in conferences and seminars with livestock and industry groups. 7.
