INVISTA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Nylon 6,6 Polymer and Cordura Fiber Plant in Camden, SC. This is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of safe work practices for performing mechanical maintenance work in a manufacturing environment.

Our Team

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime. This includes mechanical pump changes, piping assembly, above-ground and underground piping repairs, and performing equipment overhauls.

What You Will Do

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and implement timely repairs.
  • Perform mechanical pump removal, installation, and replacement, ensuring proper alignment and sealing.
  • Assemble, install, and repair piping systems, including flanges, valves, fittings, and supports.
  • Conduct repairs on both above-ground and underground piping systems, including leak detection, excavation, and restoration as necessary.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and technical manuals for mechanical systems and piping layouts.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and operational staff to optimize equipment performance.
  • Adhere strictly to company safety standards and procedures, especially when working in confined spaces and underground environments.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in performing general mechanical tasks
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatic components
  • Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment proficiently
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and on-call as required
  • This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or related software
  • Certificate of completion in a mechanical maintenance-related coursework

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme. heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
  • PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task.
  • Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods of time up to 12 hours per day.
  • Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work on elevated platforms.

This role is subject to a pre-hire medical test.
