Overview
The Department of Campus Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs at Utah State University seeks a positive, collaborative, and dynamic individual to join our team as our Coordinator of Competitive Sports- Intramurals and Esports (Campus Recreation Supervisor). Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports and Youth Programs, the position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and daily operations of all aspects of the Utah State University Intramural Sports, Unified Sports, and Esports programs. They will assist with summer camp programming alongside the Assistant Director and manage the day-to-day operations of Aggie Rec Camp. This individual will be a key team member of the Campus Recreation Department, which provides aquatic programs, club sports, fitness/wellness, intramurals, outdoor recreation, special events, intramural, summer camp, and collaborative programs.

Responsibilities
Program Management
  • Provide leadership and oversee the development and operation of the Intramural Sports, Unified Sports, Esports, and Aggie Rec Camp.
  • Oversee the program management of 60+ intramural leagues and tournaments with 4,500+ intramural participants and a comprehensive Unified Sports program.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the overall Intramural Sports programs.
  • Compile, prepare, and maintain records for Intramural Sports, such as budget, participation numbers, injuries, and incident reports.
  • Develop program supervisor manuals, official training manuals, and a comprehensive staff training program.
  • Become proficient in the use of Fusion, FusionPlay, WhentoWork, DoSportsEasy, FunJoin, and Connect2Concepts software as they relate to program administration and management.
  • Responsible for inventory and maintaining all Intramural Sports equipment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of risk management protocols for Intramural Sports and Aggie Rec Camp events and programs.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordination of all Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments and intramural events.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordination of all Unified Sports skills camps and tournaments.
  • Be actively involved with programming and oversite of Aggie Rec Camp.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and Youth Programs to offer programs such as summer leagues and Aggie Rec Camp
  • Understand and represent the mission and vision of Utah State University Campus Recreation Department.
  • Work evenings and weekends when necessary, regarding Intramural Sports events.
  • Develop and oversee the Intramural Greek and Residence Life Leagues
  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of the Intramural Sports programs.

Personnel Management
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of student officials, supervisors, and esports student staff.
  • Ensure delivery of a comprehensive student development program for student staff within Campus Recreation Programs.

Budget Management
  • Research, develop, monitor, and adhere to the Intramural and Aggie Rec Camp program budgets.
  • Oversee program payroll, tracking, and approvals.

Research & Assessment
  • Evaluate all Intramural Sports programs and services to determine overall effectiveness and satisfaction, to decide on possible changes as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Intramural Sports and overall department research and assessment agenda, to include the development of student and program learning outcomes.

Other
  • Prepare written communications such as monthly reports, annual reports, participation statistics, etc.
  • Actively participate in a variety of Campus Recreation, University, and national association committees as assigned/obtained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a major in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, business administration, or a related field and 2 years' experience managing and developing Intramural Sports and/or Esports programs OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work varying hours, including at times, early mornings, late evenings, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Two or more years of professional experience developing Club Sport and/or Intramural Sport programming in a collegiate recreation setting (including Graduate Assistantship).
  • Certification as a High School or College official in a major sport(s).
  • Standard Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and/or instructor certification.
  • Active involvement in NIRSA - Leaders in Collegiate Recreation.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Administration, personnel & organizational management, budgeting, computer hardware/software operation, principles of superior customer service, and effective marketing
  • Demonstrate ability to do the following:
    • Interpret and apply university, Aggies Recreation Center, Campus Recreation, and USU rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Establish programmatic goals, facilitate change, and implement innovative programs and services.
    • Oversee the work of others.
    • Coordinate the timely completion of multiple tasks. Work independently under general supervision. Work as part of a team to reach set goals.
    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Generate and follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Provide excellent customer service. Adapt to changes in the work environment.
    • Work effectively in a multicultural environment.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
