Intern Research Scientist

Term: Starting March-May 2026 up to six months with potential for extension up to 12 months.

Based at our Ann Arbor, MI site, the onsite Intern Research Scientist will play a key role in advancing nextgeneration cellular models and optical analysis technologies for healthcare applications. These platforms will support fundamental biological research as well as innovation within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Under guidance, the intern will routinely design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate results. Close collaboration with internal subject matter experts will be essential to understand and apply emerging technologies.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Contribute to the design, optimization, and validation of analytical tools for advanced cellbased assays.

  • Perform iPSC and 3D cell culture studies, including maintenance, differentiation, and assay development.

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret experimental data using optical modalities and other analytical techniques.

  • Collaborate effectively with crossfunctional R&D teams to support the integration of optical solutions into biologically relevant workflows.

What will convince us:

Education

  • PhD or PhDtrack graduate student in Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

Experience

  • Handson experience with cell culture, with strong preference for iPSC maintenance/differentiation and 3D culture systems (e.g., spheroids, organoids, scaffoldbased models).

  • Familiarity with microfluidic systems is a plus but not required.

  • Experience with optical analytical tools (e.g., light sheet microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, multiphoton fluorescence) is beneficial but not necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform systematic experimentation, troubleshoot protocols, and maintain accurate laboratory records.

  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory and around laserbased systems.

Compensation is up to $28 per hour. This position does not provide relocation accommodations.
