Position Summary/ Department Summary:

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Boston Children's Hospital is a 22-bed facility dedicated to the care of children with a wide range of critical illness diagnoses including respiratory failure (severe breathing problems), sepsis (serious infection), nutritional failure, poisoning, congenital anomalies, and life-threatening complications of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant will help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex pediatric patients.
  • In collaboration with the registered nurse, you may be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and oxygen saturation measurements, while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • Transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • The Clinical Assistant role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
  • 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
  • The ability to: exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work on a team.
Licensure/ Certifications:
  • CNA certification (or 1-year CA experience & Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation)

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
