Job description
We are seeking an experienced Director of IT Operations to lead all internal IT systems and infrastructure within our federal government contracting organization. This senior leadership role requires strategic expertise in federal compliance frameworks, government cloud administration, and IT infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in FedRAMP-authorized environments, FISMA compliance, NIST standards, and federal IT security protocols.
Key Responsibilities: IT Infrastructure and Operations *Manage, maintain, and enhance the organization's internal IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security *Oversee network infrastructure, data center operations, and business continuity/disaster recovery *Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and uptime Government Cloud Administration *Administer and optimize Microsoft Government Cloud (Azure Government) environments *Ensure compliance with federal standards, FedRAMP requirements, and FISMA regulations *Implement and maintain data protection measures within government cloud systems *Manage cloud cost optimization and resource allocation ensuring efficient cloud operations. *Implement and manage FedRAMP-authorized tools and solutions *Prepare for and support government IT audits and compliance assessments *Oversee VPN infrastructure, enforce data protection measures, and administer secure VDI environments *Manage integration with Appian AWS Government environment and maintain integrations between Appian and Azure cloud platforms. *Maintain SQL databases and virtual machines within Azure cloud and, manage performance of these systems *Conduct and oversee penetration testing and vulnerability assessments *Maintain federal compliance documentation and procedures *Managed Service Provider (MSP) Oversight *Monitor MSP performance against service level agreements (SLAs) Employee Onboarding & Offboarding *Lead comprehensive employee onboarding and offboarding processes *Provision and deprovision user accounts, devices, and system access in M365 *Develop and refine workflows for efficiency and security *Implement zero touch automation and seamless provisioning of resources Help Desk Operations *Supervise help desk team and ensure effective technical support delivery *Establish SLAs and performance metrics *Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and high user satisfaction IT Policy and Governance *Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with federal regulations *Implement change management processes and IT security policies *Maintain IT governance documentation and compliance records Strategic Leadership *Collaborate with executive leadership to align IT strategy with organizational objectives and compliance obligations *Develop IT strategic plans supporting federal compliance and business growth Required Qualifications: Education and Experience *Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field *Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in IT operations *Minimum 3+ years in a management or director-level role *Demonstrated experience working within a federal contractor, healthcare, or highly regulated environment Federal Compliance and Security *Demonstrated expertise implementing and managing FedRAMP-authorized tools and solutions *Proven experience ensuring FISMA compliance and NIST standards adherence *Experience preparing for and supporting government IT audits *Hands-on experience conducting penetration testing and vulnerability assessments *Knowledge of federal data protection and classification standards *Understanding of federal contracting regulations and compliance obligations Technical Expertise *Advanced expertise in IT infrastructure management (networks, servers, storage, databases) *Strong proficiency with Microsoft Government Cloud (Azure Government) *Experience with cloud administration and hybrid cloud environments *Expertise in VPN infrastructure and secure remote access solutions *Proficiency with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies *Knowledge of network security, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems *Experience with IT service management tools and help desk platforms *Experience managing compliance and implementing GRC tools like Drata or Vanta.
