Job Description:

Actuarial Analyst

Job Summary:

The actuarial analyst will report to the Director, HNW FP&A and be accountable for deliverables associated with management reporting and annual financial planning for the High-Net-Worth business. This includes monthly/quarterly reporting, forecasting, business and strategic plan, and ad hoc financial initiatives. The position will work closely with all different functions of the business in many different geographies around the globe.

This position will involve working with all aspects of HNW financials but have a large focus on New Business profitability as well as Singapore and Hong Kong HNW results.

Job Responsibilities:

Management Reporting

  • Help with the expansion of management reporting from International to HNW
  • Help prepare Driver of Earnings and Monthly Business Reviews
  • Expand monthly business reporting capabilities
  • Support Data and Analytics team to automate and streamline reporting

Financial Planning

  • Produce business plans and strategic plans for HNW including preparation of Corporate submissions
  • Improve forecasting capabilities to provide management with timely updates
  • Update key assumptions underpinning the business/strategic plans and review them for reasonableness.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and special project work as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience with IFRS 17 and LICAT
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint
  • Prior experience with Life insurance products considered a large plus
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate actuarial concepts to a finance perspective.
  • Willingness to work unusual hours from time to time, due to Sun Life offices within other time zones.
