OVERVIEW

This position will provide support for all Precision Ag Technologies, including geographic information systems, global positioning systems, and other Precision Ag hardware, to agricultural production and management activities. Candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, willing to learn and stay current on all emerging technologies, demonstrate problem solving skills, and has the ability to teach others. The Precision Agriculture Field Technician plays a crucial role in supporting all FCC farm activities by utilizing advanced technology to optimize crop production and promote sustainable farming practices.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Deploy and Maintain Farming Technologies: Install, operate, and maintain various precision agriculture technologies such as GPS guidance and location systems, all GIS tractor hardware components, communication modems, RTK towers.
  • Data Collection: Collect data from various operations including furrowing guess row, and any research trials led by the Precision Ag Department.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to all farming activities, troubleshoot any issues with precision agriculture equipment using advanced tools such as CASE EST computer, and ensure optimal performance of the technologies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with farming operations, tractor operators, supervisors, managers and directors; also, with other departments at FCC, equipment dealers, and CASE IH reps as guided by the PA Manger to implement precision agriculture practices.
  • Training: Continuous training of new and stablished tractor drivers in the utilization of GPS guidance, and PA equipment settings.
  • Website support: assist on maintaining the digital inventory of field guidance lines on the CASE AFS website, ensuring that all lines are accurately listed, updated, and managed in the system.
  • Mapping and Documentation: conduct field surveys to capture its topography when requested. Keep notes and documentation of equipment failures, equipment settings and any additional information related to PA operations.



WORK EXPERIENCES



  • Candidate will have experience with precision ag technology as an operator, technician or formal training in GPS systems
  • Previous experience as a Precision Ag Technician preferred
  • Must be well versed in computer and standard desktop programs
  • Must have expert knowledge in the operation of heavy equipment and farming implements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in agricultural tractors GPS operation and farming equipment. More specifically on CASE precision agriculture equipment and software.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex technical concepts to tractor operators and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify, diagnose, and rectify issues related to PA hardware and software.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented and analytical thinking skills to learn and work with PA equipment and software that constantly change.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



  • High School Diploma Required
  • Associates degree (A.S., A.A.S., A.S.T.) or Ag Technology certificate preferred
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly preferred
